True North at Galerie Tschudi

Katie Paterson’s work maps various stages in the geological history of the earth, as well as the universe with its many suns and ancient darkness. Because our present remains the starting point and anchor of these explorations, the focus is not only on places distant in time and space, but above all on the path between here and there.

True North at Galerie Tschudi, Zurich, opens 30th January 2026.

UCCA Dune

This major exhibition presents sixteen of Katie Paterson’s installation works alongside several new pieces. As her first solo institutional exhibition in China, shown across the ten interconnected gallery spaces of UCCA Dune, embedded in sand and open to sky and sea, the exhibition reflects on the human condition within deep geological time. New works include a water based kinetic installation, tracing elemental rhythms of flow, condensation, and dispersal.

Katie Paterson Takes Here Study of the Earth to New Heights – The New York Times

Katie Paterson’s work has always been about Earth, and the great vastness beyond.A Scottish multidisciplinary artist, she has worked with scientists across the globe on exhaustively researched projects, including The Future Library, an anthology of 100 previously unpublished books written by some of the 21st century’s most celebrated writers. In 2022, astronomers helped her count the times the sun has risen since the Earth was formed — to the most accurate level scientists can — for a piece titled “—there lay the Days between—.” Years earlier, she had worked with scientists specializing in light at the firm Osram to develop lightbulbs that simulate the lunar glow.
